SALEM, Ore.–  The South Salem Volleyball team honored two of their historically great players on Wednesday afternoon in Kamree Orizotti and Briella Mathis.
Orizotti, who came into High School as a freshman as a hitter, became the All-Time Career Assists leader with 3,567 assists as a Setter, signed her Letter of Intent to play at NCAA Division-I Towson University in Maryland.
Mathis, who finished her career eighth All-Time with kills at 1,464, and is one of 31 athletes to record 500 kills on s season, recording 541 kills as a junior, heads to NAIA Southern Oregon University.
The duo leave South Salem as well helping the Saxons to a historic third-place finish this past Fall.  Of the four All-Time trophies that South Salem has earned, Mathis and Orizotti were on three of them.  Leaving their marks as well on the court.
“It’s just been so much fun to get the opportunity to do that, here in this program and with this community around me has been such a dream.  It’s sad to leave it behind, but I’m really glad that everything happened like it happened and that I got to do it with all these people around me,” said Mathis.
“I owe it to (South Salem Head Coach) Matt (Letichy), he changed the whole trajectory of my Volleyball career.  If it hadn’t been for coach, I wouldn’t know where I’ll end up now,” adds Kamree Orizotti.  “He worked me a lot and was thankful for my teammates and the rest of my coaching staff for being nothing but supportive and helping me to get me where I’m at today.”
Orizotti is uncertain on what she’ll major in at Towson, but is looking towards something in the medical field.  Mathis wants to major in Biomedical Sciences with the aspiration to go to Medical School down the road.
