Several Salem-area teams took part in some big wrestling tournaments this past weekend. Here’s a Round-Up:
Oregon Classic Duals
REDMOND, Ore. –The McKay Girls Wrestling team finished second in the Gold Bracket with the Sprague Girls Wrestling team winning the Consolation Finals on the Gold Bracket.
The McNary Girls Wrestling team fell in the Consolation Finals to Centennial in the Oregon Classic Championship Bracket.
Oregon Classic Duals
The Sprague Boys Wrestling team fell to Forest Grove 42-41 in the Consolation Finals of the 6A Classic Cup.
The North Marion Boys Wrestling team finished sixth in the 4A Classic Cup, defeating Mazama 48-36. The Cascade Boys Wrestling team fell in the third-place dual against 4A Championship Bracket, falling to Pendleton 42-32.
The Scio Boys Wrestling team won the 3A Classic Cup with their 60-12 victory over Rainier. The Willamina Boys Wrestling team fell to Banks on the third-place dual in the 3A Championship Bracket.
The Kennedy Boys Wrestling team won the 2A/1A Classic Cup, defeating Central Linn 60-24. The Regis Boys Wrestling team won the Consolation Finals of the 2A/1A Championship Bracket on Saturday, defeating Oakland 41-28.
Nick Lutz Tournament
FLORENCE, Ore.–Amity’s Cristal Martinez won the 100 pound title. Amity’s Edith Betts finished fourth at 135 pounds.
The Dayton Girls Wrestling team finished second as a team as Danika Moody (155), Aliyah Sauceda (170) and Mia Lopes (235) all won their respective weight classes. Kaylin Dickerson finished second at 235 pounds
Cascade’s Alexis Cruz won the 105 pound title. Cascade’s Savanna Marcle (190) finished third. Cascade’s Lorelei Irwin (235) finished fourth
On the boys side of the tournament. Dayton’s Micah Alvarez finished third at 215 pounds.Joe Schmidt finished sixth at 120. Amity’s Matthew Trunde finished fifth at 157
Lebanon Invitational
LEBANON, Ore. — Dallas’ Lorenzo Romero-Hill (126), Carson Langford (215) and Luis Estrada (285) won titles. Thomas Loughary finished (120) Jonny Talmadge (132) finished second. The Dragons won the tournament with 241.5 points.
McNary’s Luis Martinez won the 113 pounds as the Celtics finished sixtj as a team. North Salem’s Kamari Magana won the 120 pound title. Stayton’s Leonardo Michel won the 150 pound title. Luke Sorenson (138) finished third.Blye John finished fourth at 132
