STAYTON, Ore.– Regis sophomore Addie Bishop has put in the work over the offseason in between her freshman and sophomore season. Taking advantage of the opportunities around volleyball and basketball season to harness her craft pitching and hitting and bridging the two years together.
And it has paid off as the Rams improved to 7-0 on the year Friday following their doubleheader sweep of Culver, 18-3, 18-3, in 2A/1A Special District 3 action at Regis Bishop went the distance in both games, seven innings in total with nine strikeouts, and not to mention hitting a home run and driving in six runs in the two league games.
“I worked through basketball and volleyball season, pitching in the cages so I can keep it up for this year,” said Bishop.
Last year, with 12 athlete’s on the team and their second year back as a program since prior to Covid, Regis went 10-7 and reached the 2A/1A State Playoffs for the first time since the 2016-2017 season. Now, a year older and better, the Rams are hoping that they can continue this momentum they’ve built going into the remainder of the regular season schedule.
“If we can keep the good spirits up with each other and don’t get down on each other when they are hard games…we’ve been really working hard and working together as a team,” said Bishop
Regis will start a three-game stretch of non-league games with away games this next week at Clatskanie on Tuesday and at Valley Catholic on Thursday before returning home to play Kennedy on April 22 before re-entering 2A/1A Special District 3 action on April 29 against Santiam.
